Muffins are a delicious, decadent way to kickstart your morning. But before enjoying one with your daily cup of Joe, be sure to check the packaging. As of June 26, FGF Brands Inc. is recalling 11,830 cases of muffins sold at ALDI stores nationwide due to undeclared allergens, per an announcement by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

The Toronto, Ontario-based company has recalled its Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffins, which were sold in clear plastic clamshell containers containing four muffins per box with a red label. They are marked with lot # NF1 142Y on the top and UPC on the label 4099100048278. Images of the affected product can be found on the FDA's website.

The recalled muffins are believed to contain undeclared walnuts. While no illnesses or adverse effects have been reported to date in connection with this recall, individuals with a walnut allergy are at risk of having a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction upon consumption of the recalled muffins.

Per the FDA, production of these muffins has been temporarily halted. Shoppers who have purchased ALDI Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffins are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Those with questions may contact the company directly at customercare@fgfbrands.com.
