An undetermined amount of ready-to-eat meat is currently the subject of a nationwide recall due to concerns it may be contaminated with salmonella, according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). This is an expansion of a January recall by Fratelli Beretta, which recalled its Bussetto Food Brand charcuterie sampler over salmonella concerns. The updated recall now includes an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat charcuterie products, including Dietz & Watson and store brands sold at Aldi, Publix, and Lidl. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this recall may be linked to a salmonella outbreak that has resulted in 47 illnesses and 10 hospitalizations across 22 states. The CDC is urging consumers to throw away any contaminated products and wash surfaces and containers that may have touched these products. The Expanded Cheese and Dairy Recall Now Includes More Than 60 Products A salmonella infection can be dangerous in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, the CDC states.
