"My wedding took place so long ago, but I remember every single detail of the day, including the fact that I was late." 01 of 12 The Wedding of Martha's Daughter, Alexis "Alexis got married to John Cuti in the judge's chambers downtown at town hall, and it was a very tiny wedding. Alexis did not want the fete that I had hoped for, but she wore a gray flannel suit and she looked extremely beautiful." 02 of 12 Darcy Miller's Wedding "I was with Darcy night after night at the chiropractor, where Darcy was doing her exercises to be in perfect size 0, 0, 0 shape for her wedding gown designed by Vera Wang. I gave a funny toast, which I loved giving to Andy Nussbaum. Having actually fixed Darcy up with Andy, I felt very responsible for the wedding, but luckily I didn't have anything to do with it except be there -- and it was spectacular. Darcy's wedding was one of the best-planned weddings -- nothing was more beautiful, and nothing ever will be as beautiful." Fraser and Matthew had a September wedding and there had been a gigantic hurricane the day before, and the wedding was almost cancelled. But on Friday night, everything stopped and the tents were able to be erected, the dance floors were installed, and the sun came out and it was actually a gorgeous day. The tables were beautiful and so was the cake, which I made. I vowed after doing this cake, which basically took a week, not to really offer as a wedding present a giant wedding cake for 300 guests ever again. But it was a lot of fun, and the cake was so delicious with many layers of pistachio, mocha, and chocolate." Jodi designed her dress, and pretty much everything at the wedding was paper -- paper flowers, paper decorations -- and Jodi looked like a super-duper fashion model. She was phenomenally beautiful." The color scheme was what really impressed me; every detail was in shades of green and brown. And I got to sit next to Robin Williams at the reception, that was the most fun of all." My nephew Chris and his longtime partner, Tim, got married at my farm, which was very special to me. These are two charming and intelligent young men who tied the knot right there at Cantitoe. Tim is a Native American and Chris is the great-great-great-grandnephew of Victor Herbert, the composer, and he is a fantastic opera singer himself. There was beautiful music and it was a beautiful day in the most beautiful setting." It was that of Charlotte Beers and William Beadleston, two dear friends of mine. Some of Charlotte's best friends (including me) were chosen as bridesmaids. We all wore big, voluminous skirts and sweater tops. Because it was autumn and cool in Seal Harbor, Maine (where the wedding was held), I made shawls of the same silk of the skirts and lined them with very soft cashmere fabric, and I hand-fringed them and they were very, very successful. I think everyone still uses their shawls." Darcy and the Weddings team designed a fairy-tale reception for these young people, and coming from out of town, I don't think they had seen anything like it." The natural activity of the two Frenchies was so charming. Getting married out in the field, the dogs were free to range and they sat on Liesl's train while she took her vows. It was so beautiful." Susan never looked better in her life, and neither did anybody else in her family. The beautiful suntanned complexions, the wonderful weather, the beautiful dinners before, the breakfast after, and the reception. It was a very, very special wedding!" The weather, however, was not cooperative, but everyone had such patience and fortitude, and the bride never looked better in her beautiful petal dress." It was quite a spectacular wedding, taking place in a resort hotel, with a lovely couple and lots of friends. Everything was done to perfection by the hotel and by the wonderful vendors that we found in Puerto Rico." See More of Kelly and Chad's Wedding Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback!
